He's Back folks!

Back due to no demand whatsoever!

Robneville.net was off the air for quite some time. I had gotten jaded with blogging and the original intent that I had for this blog was lost. Then, the unthinkable happened and my little duct tape and bubblegum server that was hosting the site puked its guts out while simultaneously my USB flash drive that held the backups to the site decided that it wasn’t formatted anymore and the entire filesystem went bye-bye.

Nice.

So, given that I was pissed off about blogging at the time anyway, I just let it go.

Well, I’m back with a vengeance now (not really but it sounds neat). I’ve got the domain on a proper hosting account instead of a computer run by two hamsters running on little wheels in the corner of my nerd cave. No dynamic DNS, no crappy cron job backup routines, but that’s not the most important thing! No the most important thing is what I’m going to write about. Those of you who remember the old blog at robneville.net probably got used to my attempt to focus what I wrote about to the “human aspects of technology”. Well, not anymore….

I’ve decided that the reason I got tired of blogging is because I was trying to follow someone else’s rules….

“You’re supposed to blog about a very tight niche”

“You’re supposed to blog on topic”

“Don’t blog about too many topics or you’ll alienate your readership”

Well, I have one thing to say to that…..

BLEEEECCCCHHHHH!!!

Screw it! I needed to redefine success. This site started as an outlet for ME. It started as a place to share photos. It started as a place for me to rant if I felt like it…wax poetic if I felt like it.

Hey, that’s MY NAME ON THE TOP, I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!!!

So, success for RobNeville.net 2.0?

If I’m having fun writing for it, then it’s working.

“But Rob, what if you’re the only one who ever reads it!!???” – who cares. At least then I know that I’m being true myself.

So, brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride of randomness. I get into all sorts of crap. That’s why I’ve choosen the new tagline – Renaissance Geek. That’s probably a better description of my interests and probably a better description of me.
